As a Well-Being Coach, I am passionate about fostering resilience not just during hours of work, but also during moments of rest.
Weekends offer invaluable opportunities to disconnect, and yet so many of us don’t.
It’s so easy to get caught up in deadlines, lists, and inboxes.
These little breaks in our routine though can offer opportunities to fortify both our mental and emotional strength.
In a world where burnout and stress is all too common, dedicating time to activities that truly rejuvenate is so important for our overall well-being.
Whether it’s spending quality time with loved ones, immersing ourselves in hobbies, or simply disconnecting from technology, these moments of rest are crucial for long-term well-being.
By intentionally embracing downtime and incorporating self-care practices into our weekends and holidays, we lay the foundation for sustainable resilience.
It’s about finding balance, setting boundaries, and prioritizing activities that nourish our mind, body, and soul.
As we start another weekend, I encourage you to use these moments of rest not just as a pause button, but as an opportunity to cultivate the resilience needed to thrive both in and out of the workplace.
Here are some ways you can build resilience during moments of rest:
- Digital Detox: Designate specific periods of time during the weekend where you disconnect entirely from screens and devices. Use the time to engage in offline activities such as reading, spending time outdoors, etc.
- Physical Movement: Whether it’s going for a walk, practicing yoga, or starting a new workout class, physical movement not only boosts your mood, but helps to reduce stress.
- Reflective Practices: Take time over the weekend to reflect on your week’s achievements, challenges and goals. Journaling, gratitude exercises or simply quiet contemplation can help you gain perspective, build self-awareness, clarify direction.
One of my favorite ways to disconnect on the weekends is by taking my small shih-tzu to the beach or local mountains for early morning walks.
It’s a great way for me to tune out the stressors from the week and connect with nature.
Making a plan and sticking to it can yield amazing results.
Wishing you all a beautiful April weekend from Orange County, CA.
